Glossary
Some words I use
- airport language — The language of books meant to be sold to executives from airport bookstands. Lots of short punchy sentences, whitespace, repetition to the degree that each chapter is fractal; if you read any one of them you can unpack the entire rest of the book from it.
- Manjusri — He’s a boddhisatva, or aspect of Buddha. He wields a flaming sword which vanquishes demons of ignorance and carries a book in which truth is recorded and preserved. Usually shown riding/sitting-upon a ferocious animal of some sort, such as a tiger, with one foot on the ground, as Manjusri is an activist and does not hesitate to meddle or motivate. Inspired by Roger Zelazny’s Lord of Light.
- MLP — Mindless Link Propogation. I picked this term up from kuro5hin before the holocaust denial revisionists over-ran it in a trollflood. I use it to mean a collection of mostly unrelated links to things which I think are interesting enough. A lot of it is second-hand cherry-picked from the tumblelogs and blog posts of others so very little of it is original material nor even my own discoveries.
