The Green of Envy
My OLPC XO has arrived and oh it is sweet. Photo set of me opening the box. What you can’t hear is me going OOOH and AHHHH at everything I saw. I hope to have a more detailed review after I’ve used it for a couple of days.
Initial impressions:
- Cute. A real crowd pleaser. Nearly everyone I showed it to vowed to get one or expressed envy.
- Good form factor, other than the keyboard. It’s only a problem because I have fat fingers and can’t touch type on it.
- The UI is generally intuitive. I can figure out pretty quickly what will happen if I do something or, at the worst, what I just did. Not always easy to figure out how to do something I haven’t done before but maybe that will come with time and experience.

What kind of things will you use it for? It won’t be your main laptop will it?

It probably won’t be my main laptop for the simple reason that the keyboard is too small for my fingers. But you should get your hands on one before you convince yourself it’s otherwise unfeasible. These things are sweet.
